Birds

I found out that the bird I've been hearing at night is the killdeer. It took me a long time because I was certain that this bird was nocturnal, but I guess the killdeer likes to hang out at all hours. Like me.

I really like plovers. I'm thinking of doing the snowy plover docent program. It is very close to our house, and I don't think I've ever seen anything cuter than a snowy plover chick.

check it:

that picture is from Callie Bowdish. If you want a better idea of where we live, her pictures are totally rad.

i just learned on PBS late-night programming (which is like elementary school stuff) that the fibonacci sequence was discovered/invented based on a thought experiment about the reproductive patterns of bunnies! BUNNIES!!!

Wow! That's cool. I have to start watching late night pbs.

I guess when I get bunnies I will have to start writing fibonacci sequences!

That plover docent program sounds cool! Have you seen the killdeer fake being injured by drooping a wing to lure predators from their nests? It's neat. And their eggs are really pretty (they nest on the ground).

is this real?
